Why Are We Establishing Standards of Excellence?

The PyTorch Foundation Ambassador Program recognizes outstanding contributors who actively support and grow the PyTorch Foundation projects and community. As an ambassador, you represent the best of our community not only through your technical contributions but also by fostering collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.

These Standards of Excellence serve as guiding principles to help ambassadors engage meaningfully with the PyTorch Foundation community, maintain a high level of professionalism, and uphold the program’s core values. By following these standards, we can ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

Scope

These Standards of Excellence apply to all PyTorch Foundation Ambassadors. This includes your statements and actions in your capacity as a PyTorch Foundation representative, whether online or in person, within community spaces or beyond. In addition to following these guidelines, all ambassadors must comply with:

Core Principles of a PyTorch Foundation Ambassador

1. Foster a Welcoming and Inclusive Community

  • Be kind and respectful to others.
  • Promote an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, engaging in discussions, and contributing.
  • Recognizing and appreciating others’ efforts expresses gratitude when people share their knowledge and contributions.
  • Actively support and encourage participation from newcomers and underrepresented groups in the community.

2. Maintain Professionalism and Respect

  • Conduct yourself professionally at all times.
  • Treat all individuals with courtesy and respect. Offensive, inappropriate, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Be mindful of how your words and actions affect others in the community.

3. Engage Thoughtfully in Discussions and Differences of Opinion

  • Encourage open discussions and the exchange of ideas, always maintaining a respectful tone.
  • Disagreements should be handled constructively, listen to other perspectives and seek solutions collaboratively.
  • Ensure that your statements and interactions reflect positively on the PyTorch community.

4. Promote and Strengthen the PyTorch Foundation Brand

  • As an ambassador, your role includes advocating for the PyTorch Foundation and helping the community grow.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help improve PyTorch Foundation technical projects, while maintaining a respectful and professional tone.
  • Your behavior as an ambassador reflects on the PyTorch Foundation engaging in unethical, deceptive, or inappropriate activities may result in removal from the program.

5. Provide Feedback in a Constructive Manner

  • Recognizing the value of constructive feedback helps the community grow.
  • Be respectful when giving feedback, ensuring that it is solution-oriented and not harmful or discouraging.
  • Avoid public criticism of individuals if necessary, share feedback privately to help others improve.

Consequences for Violating These Standards

Violations of these Standards of Excellence, the PyTorch Foundation Code of Conduct, the Linux Foundation Events Code of Conduct or the Linux Foundation Trademark Policy may result in:

  • A request to remove inappropriate content.
  • A temporary suspension from the ambassador program.
  • Permanent removal from the program, depending on the severity of the violation.

Updates to These Guidelines

The PyTorch Foundation reserves the right to update these Standards of Excellence as needed. Any significant changes will be communicated via email and relevant community channels.
